We use a heavier thread than we need to. It costs more, it slows the machines, and it is the single reason our totes come back to us for photographs rather than repairs.
Durability is a design decision, not an afterthought.
The embroidery panels are worked separately by hand before they ever meet the canvas. A single motif takes an afternoon. When it is finished it is held up to the window, and if the light finds a gap, it starts again.
